Svithun Husflidslag

This morning Jorunn took me to the open house at Svithun Husflidslag, a center for craft, mostly weaving, a cooperative in an old house. When we arrived they were having a meeting, which I managed to pretty much disrupt. They invited us to have coffee and cake. After Jorunn explained who I was and why I'm here, I showed them a few of my miniature handwovens. They were very kind and said I am an artist. It was easier to say yes than explain about being a Fellow of the Guild.

Next one of the members took us on a tour - this place was wall-to-wall looms!! I felt very much at home, except I have lots more yarn than all of them put together.

One closet had dozens of shoe lasts, seems they made shoes once of grass. And one weaver was 91, and she never misses coming to weave. She was weaving a table runner with a black skipped dent warp and paper yarn (dampened) in her shuttle. I want to be her when I grow up!
