Because I have an appointment at the Norsk Folkemuseum on Oct. 11 (just trying to establish which Monday we're at here, gang) we took the 8hour train ride to Oslo the day before. There was a slight mix-up with the Internet-bought tickets, we wanted a 10am train and had tickets for the 3pm train. Thommas found a very nice conductor who let us use our Komfort class tickets in the regular compartment, telling us which seats were available. The tickets are for specific seats, like a plane, not like the first come seats on the LIRR. Obviously I don't ride Amtrak or I'd probably have expected reserved seats??
I was knitting the second cuff and neckline of my 'new' sweater but also tried to take picture when there weren't trees trackside. I do have quite a few blurry tree pictures, though.
We traveled along the coast for a while, then inland and through some very long tunnels. When we got to Kristiansand the train pulled in with all the seats in our compartment facing one direction, and when we left the train was going back the same way for a bit, so they spun all the seats to face the other direction.
Just like most US train stations, most of the many stations we stopped at here weren't in the most interesting part of town, or we were looking at the back side of the building.
So here's what I've got to show for my trip to Oslo, enjoy! When you see a blue rectangle in the picture, that's the reflection of my iPhone.
