We drove to Bergen today, but the trip required 2 ferries as well, since "you can't get there from here" by driving - too much water in the way.
The ferries were very efficient and clean. Passengers must leave their cars during the roughly 1/2 hour trip. There's a dining area upstairs, Jorunn packed coffee and lefse for us.
The landscape all the way was wild, rocky and beautiful. It rained much of the time, but the sun poked through several times.
And then we had hail!! It wasn't big hail, most of it was grape seed size, but the noise was amazing.
We arrived in Bergen around 6pm, parked under Grieg Hall, and walked a short distance to the hotel. My iPhone ran out of battery by the second ferry, so there aren't any pictures of the drive into Bergen until we can unload the ones I took on Thommas' camera when we get home. It's a nice hotel Thommas booked online, he's becoming my favorite travel agent.
After a short rest we headed out to see Bergem at night - see part 2!
